Who can participate in ODP tryouts?
Any player within the appropriate age group who registers with USYS is eligible to participate in ODP tryouts.

How do I register for tryouts?
Registration link for tryouts is completed online through Sports Connect. Log in or create an account, select the program for your region, and complete the tryout registration process.

Is there a fee for tryouts?
Yes, there is a $25 tryout fee, which covers the evaluation process. The fee is outlined on the registration page and must be paid at the time of registration.

What should players bring to tryouts?
Players should bring cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball, a water bottle, and wear appropriate soccer attire, including a light and dark shirt for scrimmage purposes.

What happens during the tryout?
Players will participate in small-sided games, technical drills, and tactical evaluations. Coaches will assess technical skills, tactical awareness, physical attributes, and mental toughness.

How long do tryouts last?
Tryouts typically last 1.5. 

Can a player try out for multiple age groups?
No, players must try out for their designated age group based on their birth year.

When will players be notified of tryout results?
Players will be notified of their selection status within two weeks of the final tryout session. Notifications will be sent via email.

What is the selection process for ODP?
Coaches evaluate players based on their performance during tryouts. Selected players are invited to join their respective age group pool for training and competition.

What happens if my child is not selected?
Players not selected are encouraged to continue developing their skills and try out again the following year. Participation in club soccer and supplemental programs can enhance their chances in the future.

Are tryouts mandatory to join ODP?
Yes, tryouts are required for all players who wish to participate in the ODP program.

What if a player cannot attend all tryout sessions?
While it is recommended to attend all sessions, coaches will evaluate players based on the sessions they attend. 

Do players need to wear specific attire for tryouts?
No specific uniform is required as NJYS provides a tryout shirt for each player.

Can parents watch tryouts?
Parents are welcome to observe tryouts but must remain in designated viewing areas to avoid interfering with the evaluation process.

What criteria are used to evaluate players during tryouts?
Coaches evaluate players on technical skills (e.g., dribbling, passing, shooting), tactical understanding (e.g., positioning, decision-making), physical fitness, and mental attributes (e.g., attitude, coachability, focus).

Is there an appeal process if a player is not selected?
ODP tryout evaluations are final. While feedback may not be provided, players are encouraged to develop their skills and try again in the future.

Are there specific tryout dates for each location?
Yes, tryout dates and locations are listed on the NJYS ODP website. 

What is the attendance policy for tryouts?
Players are expected to attend all scheduled tryout sessions unless they have communicated unavoidable conflicts in advance.

Can players register on-site for tryouts?
On-site registration may be allowed, but it is highly recommended to register online in advance to secure a spot.
