James Galanis – NJYS Technical Director

Since joining New Jersey Youth Soccer in 2017, James Galanis has been a driving force behind the transformation and growth of the Olympic Development Program (ODP). His vision and dedication have elevated the program into a top-tier platform for identifying and developing elite soccer talent throughout the state.

Key Contributions to NJ ODP

  • Expansion of Program Offerings: James spearheaded the introduction of several innovative initiatives, including the Mental Toughness ProgramTactical Awareness Webinars5 additional tournaments, comprehensive player evaluationsin-house coaching education, and enhanced goalkeeper training through partnerships like the Goalkeeper Alliance.
  • Enhanced Training Opportunities: He implemented a structured curriculum featuring 7 training sessions7 tournaments, and exclusive access to tools like the Techne App, which provides players with opportunities for individualized skill development.
  • Streamlined Talent Identification: James revamped the tryout processes to ensure every player is evaluated thoroughly and fairly, creating a clear pathway to higher levels, including the East Region, Inter-Regional, and National ODP Teams.
  • Aligned Coaching Staff: He inspired and led the alignment of ODP’s coaching staff, enforcing a shared NJ ODP curriculum to ensure consistency and excellence in training across the program.
  • Restructured Young Olympians Program: James redefined the Young Olympians Program, implementing a new format and specific curriculum tailored to meet the developmental needs of younger players, setting them up for long-term success.
