USYS East-Region

What is Regional ODP?

Regional ODP is the next step in the ODP pathway, where players selected from state-level ODP programs are invited to represent their region (East, West, Midwest, or South) in training camps, tournaments, and competitions.

How are players selected for Regional ODP?
Players are evaluated by NJYS ODP coaches and directors throughout the season. Those who demonstrate exceptional skill, tactical understanding, and potential are recommended for Regional ODP.

When are Regional ODP selections made?
Selections are typically made after the NJYS ODP season and communicated by the East Region ODP representatives after the East Region tournament.

Are all players eligible for Regional ODP?
Yes, all NJYS ODP players are evaluated for Regional ODP, regardless of their team assignment (balanced teams are treated equally).

What happens if I am selected for Regional ODP?
Players selected for Regional ODP will receive an invitation to attend training camps and participate in regional events, including inter-regional competitions.

Are there additional costs for Regional ODP?
Yes, participation in Regional ODP events, camps, and tournaments requires additional fees, which are communicated during the selection process.

Can I decline a Regional ODP invitation?
Yes, participation is voluntary. If a player is unable to attend, they can notify the East Region ODP administrators.


USYS Inter-Regional

What is an Inter-Regional ODP event?
Inter-Regional events bring together top players from different ODP regions for high-level competition and exposure to national team scouts.

How are players selected for Inter-Regional events?
Players are chosen based on their performance in Regional ODP events and camps. East Region ODP staff make the final selections for Inter-Regional opportunities.

What are the benefits of participating in Inter-Regional events?
Inter-Regional events provide players with opportunities to compete against elite talent, gain visibility from national team scouts, and enhance their development.

Where are Inter-Regional events held?
These events are typically held at central locations designated by US Youth Soccer, such as IMG Academy in Florida or other high-profile venues.

Is there a cost to participate in Inter-Regional events?
Yes, there are costs associated with travel, accommodations, and participation fees. Families will receive detailed information upon selection.


National ODP Selection

What is National ODP?
National ODP is the highest level of the US Youth Soccer ODP pathway, where top players from all four regions are invited to represent the United States in international competitions and training camps.

How are players selected for National ODP?
Players are scouted during Regional and Inter-Regional events. National team scouts and ODP staff identify players with the potential to compete at the highest levels.

What are the benefits of being selected for National ODP?
National ODP players gain exposure to U.S. Soccer national team programs, opportunities to compete internationally, and experience with top-level coaching.

Are there additional costs for National ODP participation?
Yes, participation in National ODP events and international trips incurs additional costs. However, financial aid options may be available.

Where do National ODP events take place?
National ODP events are held at premier locations, including international destinations for training camps and competitions.

What happens after National ODP selection?
Players will be invited to participate in national camps, friendly matches, and international tournaments. These events are a gateway to the U.S. Youth National Teams.
